This song is SOOO how I imagine how Shadow would feel just getting to know Amy (after the events of Sonic Adventure 2) and is having a hard time accepting how fast he seems to be falling for her and such (MARIAAAAAAAA-*shot*)

OMG it's basically the same way I feel for Shadow and the song I choose for him. I can totally see Amy saying something like this, a total opposite from how all her other themes are (since they are mostly about Sonic and Shadow is the total opposite so it makes since)

Your choice of 'thought-songs' for Shadow and Amy was well done and fits the feelings they're displaying (also well done) quite accurately. Shadow is dealing with a sense of helplessness and rage at losing someone he was very close to but couldn't save - being forced to watch Maria die was, to say the least, a massive trauma. Meanwhile Amy is quite rightly nervous of both Shadow's power as well as the possibility that his anger may turn violent.
In short they're both afraid: Shadow of being emotionally hurt, Amy of being physically hurt. Trust between them will take quite some time to build. Especially if they want to nurse that little spark of romance between them into the flame of love.
